Mono-printing to stitch

We had a happy day recently at Out of the Fold playing with Gelliplates and mono-printing. As a result Caroline has some glorious printed papers and here she is looking at ways of incorporating and interpreting these in fabric and stitched pieces. To see the final results come along to the exhibition at Workwise Cavern 4 in October.

Tartan with a twist

Daphne has been working on pieces based on a traditional family tartan and giving it a modern treatment  in her imaginative and creative way using snippets of fabrics. More 'Bling Fling' than 'Highland Fling'!

Paper Mania

Mary's first magazine article has been published in the current edition (Issue no. 94 April/May 2015) of Stitch magazine. This is a technique Mary calls 'Paper Mania' which uses recycled painted newspapers layered up with several sheer organzas. The design is then stitched and sections burned away with a soldering iron.

Mary teaches this technique as a workshop. Please see her website www.marymcintosh.co.uk  for details.

In my Quilters Garden

Janet Valentine has been hard at work making a new piece of work which will be submitted to the Quilter's Guild ICHF 2015-16 touring exhibition.

Janet says "I enjoyed designing and making 'Summer Stratum' for the Knitting and Stitching Show last year so much that I have followed it with 'Summer Stratum II'. It is screen printed cotton using printing inks, then machine stitched and voile flowers added"
